This one gets a mention because the church was over 700 years old and really lovely. Trouble was, the organ was probably about the same age and hadn’t been maintained very well. 4 stops on the Great, 4 on the Swell and the Great was unplayable. I pulled out one stop and 2 or 3 discordant notes sounded. Aaargh! Had to play just the Swell at full welly throughout.
The groom knew the organ was dodgy so it was no surprise. The happy couple were happy with it, and that’s the main thing.
